The Intermediate team consisting of Chair - Joan 8S, Proposer- Arabela, 8S and Opposer - Marcell, 9E presented the motion “This house believes that AI is terrible for humanity.” They battled against Llanwern High and swept the board, winning all three individual prizes of Best Chair, Best Opposer and Best Proposer as well as Best Team.

The Senior team consisting of Chair - Joe, 10E, Proposer - Genevieve, 10V and Opposer - Alyssa, 10E presented the motion “This house believes that social constructs are harmful to society.” This team battled against very strong teams from Rougemont and Llanwern High and brought home the trophy winning Best Team, Best Proposer and Best Chair.  Huge congratulations to all the pupils. Both teams will now represent Newport in the next round, which will be held at the University of South Wales in January. Also, a big thank you to Mrs Thomas for all her help, support and encouragement to give these wonderful pupils the podium they deserve.
